GAME OVER

The tour is officially done!!

I’m never signing anything again, ever…

Back to back to back to back traveling, what a trip. Not exactly hard work per se but definitely tiring and disorienting. My manager is already planning the next one. I think I may need to fire her. :)

With that being said, huge thanks to everyone that came out, braved freezing cold temperatures, and stood in long lines. I truly appreciate your support and admiration. I wouldn’t be here where I am today without it. And much thanks to all the store peeps that were involved in coordinating the signings. I met so many great people and many in cities I’ve never adventured to before. Huge thanks all around.

So, while I have your attention, I’m going to go ahead and knock 50% off all the T-shirts in my store. And I also just listed all my promo copies of the “Art of Huck Gee” books that are sitting here. About two dozen red and white covers, all signed. Come and get them before they’re gone! Huck’s Store

Thanks!!

book-tour-flier-550

“The Art of Huck Gee” is a 150-page full color retrospective of Huck Gee’s work. A special preview of the book was provided at his epic “11 of 10″ show this past November in Los Angeles and now the date has been set for the general release. January 1st, 2012 will mark the official release of the book from the person Paul Budnitz referers to as, “The greatest toy artist on the planet”.

In support of the release Huck Gee will be embarking on an amazing 11-city signing tour that will span from coast-to-coast. This will be the first time Huck has signed in many of these cities. Each event will take place from 6-8pm, but get there early as the lines for Huck’s appearances tend to go around the block a couple of times.

The tour starts Thursday, January 5th in Denver followed by Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Houston, Mesa, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and will finish in his hometown of San Francisco on Tuesday, January 17th. Attendees will be able to purchase a special limited edition white cover copy of the book. This version will only be available during the book tour and is limited to only 800 worldwide.

“11/10″ Recap
And the dust has settled

First, let me give a huge thank you to everyone that attended the “11/10″ show, everyone that flew in from out of country, fought online to purchase something, drove hours, or came out and just stood in line. Even though we had a few hiccups, the show was a success. I do believe we sold out of everything. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and adoration of my friends, fans, colleagues and collectors. Truly, Thank you. Now onto the press!

The wonderfully talented Beast Brothers edited this wonderful video of the event.:

Next, photos from the event are up now in my Flickr gallery here:

And finally, the official press release:

“Through the years artist Huck Gee has created original and awe inspiring 3D figures which sell out almost immediately through his website. He creates these unique and lovable characters in sets of 10, each individually numbered. But what nobody knew is that for each set of 10 figures he made, he also made one more and numbered it “11/10″. For the first time ever, every 11/10 piece was displayed and available for sale, almost 50 pieces in total. Fans had just one last chance to see them in person and get their hands on figures that sold out years ago.

11/10 was not only feature retrospective and new works, it was also the debut release of Huck’s first full length art book “The Art of Huck Gee”. Published by Presto Publishing and not scheduled to hit shelves till January 1st, 2012; just 200 collectors cover copies were available at the event.

And as if that wasn’t enough, 11/10 was also the official release of the extremely limited “Kabuki and Kitsune” Dunny 2-Pack by toy creator heavyweights Kidrobot. Inspired by Huck Gee’s Gold Life Dunny Series which sold out in record time, these two 3-inch Dunnys were limited to only 200 pieces and were exclusively available at the event.

11/10 saw large crowds of fans over it’s 3-day affair at Toy Art Gallery. Thursday, November 10th at 7pm marked the official opening which ended Sunday, November 13th with a completely sold out show.

Huck Gee would like to thank all of his fans that came out to see this special once-in-a-lifetime event.

Thanks again!

- Huck

“11/10″ The Artwork of Huck Gee

Artist Retrospective Hits Los Angeles for a 3-Day Only Event

Toy Art Gallery, one of the first dedicated art galleries of it’s kind, today announced that it will feature the work of toy customizer extraordinaire Huck Gee titled “11/10″ in Los Angeles for a 3-day only event starting November 10.

Through the years Huck has created original and awe inspiring 3D figures which sell out almost immediately through his website. He creates these unique and lovable characters in sets of 10, each individually numbered. But what nobody knew is that for each set of 10 figures he made, he also made one more and numbered it “11/10″. For the first time ever, every 11/10 piece will be on display and be available for sale, almost 50 pieces in total. Fans will now have just one last chance to see in person and get their hands on figures that sold out years ago.

“A couple of years ago I found myself wondering how I could create enough art pieces for a truly stupendous gallery show, yet without me having to take 9 months off to focus solely on producing pieces for a gallery. There was no way I could afford to set that much time aside but pull off the show I was imagining. Then I looked in my display case and saw the 11th figure I had begun squirreling away for my own collection,” said Huck Gee.

11/10 will not only feature retrospective and new works, it will also be the debut release of Huck’s first full length art book “The Art of Huck Gee”. Published by Presto Publishing and not scheduled to hit shelves till January 1st, 2012; just 200 collectors cover copies will be available at the event.

And as if that wasn’t enough, 11/10 will also be the official release of the extremely limited “Kabuki and Kitsune” Dunny 2-Pack by toy creator heavyweights Kidrobot. Inspired by Huck Gee’s Gold Life Dunny Series which sold out in record time, these two 3-inch Dunnys will be limited to only 200 pieces and will be exclusively available at the event.

11/10 will see large crowds of fans over it’s 3-day affair at Toy Art Gallery. Thursday, November 10th at 7pm will mark the official opening with a special signing with Huck Gee taking place the following evening at 5pm. The show will be open throughout the weekend closing it’s doors forever on Sunday, November 13th.

About Huck Gee:
A UK native, Huck Gee is a contemporary artist, illustrator, toy maker, and designer best known by toy enthusiasts for his iconic “Skullhead” character and “Gold Life” art creations. Heavily influenced by Japanese and Hong Kong pop art, Gee calls his style “Bastardized Asian Pop Culture”.
The demand for Huck’s Custom Toy Art and illustrations has grown quite immense, with small runs of hand crafted Art Toys and original prints selling out in seconds online and shipping to art collectors worldwide. Huck’s works have been exhibited in galleries worldwide and in 2007 his “Hello My Name Is” 8” Dunny was accepted into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. In addition, Huck has also consigned several pieces for one of the world’s leading fine art auction houses: Christie’s Auction House.
He’s released numerous limited production toys through Kidrobot including some of the most exclusive and sought after Dunnys to date, figures for The Standard, DJ Qbert, and a series of figures for Barney’s New York which came dressed in the 2005 spring collections of five of the world’s most famous fashion designers: Marc Jacobs, Dries Van Noten, Jil Sander, Rick Owens, and Duckie Brown. His extraordinary skills with customizing vinyl toys earned him the title of Best Customizer in the 2009 Kidrobot Artist Awards.
Most recently Huck collaborated with Ken Block and DC Shoes for Ken’s Monster World Rally Team WRC logo entitled “Blockhead”. Coinciding with this project were several limited edition shoe and clothing runs.
Huck currently maintains a studio in San Francisco and when not busy planning world domination, he spends his free time playing with his daughter and pretending to be a racecar driver. Not necessarily at the same time.
